Recipe for Mary Melso

Dinner Rolls



This makes a big batch I usually make a half batch
4 teaspoons of dry active yeast
Approx 6 cups flour
½ cup sugar
2 tsp salt

2 cups warm water approx 120 degrees
1 egg
2 tablespoons butter


Combine dry ingredients in large bowl, make a well
Microwave butter and water for 2 minutes on high
Dump in wet ingredients, stir
Then add egg and Rest of flour a little at a time.
Take off rings and oil hands
Knead till elastic.
Oil bowl place dough in bowl with loose covering just to keep safe from a draft
Punch down dough after it doubles. About 45 minutes could be longer

Roll dough into nine 2 inch balls place in a well oiled 8 by 8 pan
let rest and rise with loose covering
score tops then bake for approx 18 minutes in a 400 degree oven.
This makes a big batch. You can refrigerate for up to 3 days - let it warm up about an hour and a half before baking punch it down then repeat above direction
Mary, if your oven is hot it may be less than 18 minutes. Be careful.
